______________________________

Acupuncture is the ancient Chinese practice of inserting needles in specific points on the body to manipulate the flow of energy or Qi.

Acupuncture can be effective in treating illnesses, injuries, chronic pain, addictions, anxiety, insomnia, digestive problems, menstrual cramps, weight control, infertility and much, much more. We often use acupuncture as an adjunct therapy to our menu of services. The proof of acupuncture’s effectiveness is in its longevity. The earliest written record of acupuncture dates back to 200 BCE.

Acupuncture is a Therapy for Pain and Chronic Illness

According to Chinese Medicine, energy in our bodies flow through channels called meridians. This energy called Qi, pronounced as “chee”, can get blocked and out of balance, leading to illness. These blockages can be caused by external factors (such as cold, damp weather, physical trauma, etc.) or internal factors (such as stress, unhealthy diets, etc.). The very fine acupuncture needles placed on identified points, assist to unblock the Qi and bring us back to balance. There is no western medical explanation for Qi; however, there is over 5,000 years of empirical evidence proving the  effectiveness of acupuncture.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Almost all new patients to Acupuncture note how surprised they are that the treatment isn’t painful and how relaxing it is. They will commonly find themselves in a state of deep relaxation during  acupuncture sessions and many even sleep. By restoring your body’s natural balance, Acupuncture can often lead to a sense of refreshment and increase in energy.

Is Acupuncture Safe?

When performed by a trained acupuncture physician using disposable needles and trained in ‘clean needle technique’, acupuncture is very safe. This is an extremely important fact in terms of safety which  provides our patients with the utmost confidence that we will not overlook something that may be treated by someone who is not trained in western diagnostics. We freely refer back and forth with medical providers in all areas and specialties and our philosophy is one that utilizes the best parts in all of health care to provide you with the best and safest care.
